What is Digital Foil Printing?

What makes it so special? You may already have an idea, but let's delve more deeply into what makes this specialty so amazing.

Compared to the traditional foil stamping process, digital foil printing is much easier. Rather than using metal blocks typeset, it is set up by using a computer file. That's right, digital printing is done by a digital foil printing machine that reads files directly from your computer. You are free to design your own template for your digital foil printing needs and send it off to us to get the job done. Unlike foil stamping which uses a pre-made pattern, or requires you to have one specially created, with digital foil printing you can print exactly what you need. 

First the paper is treated with a laminate like soft touch laminate. Next, the laminated paper is overprinted, setting a 100% black ink or toner over the area that is to hold the digital foil. Finally, the roller prints the digital foil smoothly onto the sections with the 100% black ink or toner, giving the desired effect. This last step is effectively digital roll to roll foil printing. Similar processes are used for applying other metallic inks and holographic effects. Since this can all be done rather quickly, there's no prolonged period of waiting for everything to be set up; the process is all-around hassle-free. In some ways it lacks the same luxury that traditional foil stamping provides, but it gets the job done in style and with speed. Additionally, if you really don't want lamination to be added, this isn't the option for you and you're better off going with foil stamping.
